With the development timeframe for a new product formulation varying from around four to seven years, Nufarm is one of few companies that dedicate resource to develop products specifically tailored to Australian conditions.
Our development capability spans across local laboratories, where new formulations are developed, to glasshouse trials and multi-year field trials where products are tested for efficacy and crop safety before they are registered and made available to farmers.
Seed Technologies
The strategy and commitment of our Seed Technology business, Nuseed, to provide world-changing solutions through the power of plants means creating crops that positively impact global environmental issues and provide new economic opportunities for farming communities. We call this our VALUE BEYOND YIELD® strategy.
Nuseed Carinata is grown as an RSB certified contract cover crop under strict sustainability protocols between food crop rotations, providing best in class greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction when used to replace petroleum diesel. Its amazing ability to sequester carbon dramatically improves soil health. Carinata also contributes to food production with its non-GMO high protein meal for animal feed without using additional farmland.
Aquaterra® is the world’s first land-based source of long chain omega-3 fatty acids. An excellent complement to fish nutrition, providing DHA+EPA and ALA, Aquaterra delivers enhanced production performance by elevating the omega-3 levels needed for higher-quality nutritious fish.
Nutriterra is the first land-based source of DHA essential nutrients. In 2011, Nufarm entered into a collaboration with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Nuseed. Through the application of world-leading genetic breeding technologies, this partnership has resulted in the development of a canola crop that produces an oil with a unique profile of long- chain omega-3 fatty acids such as DHA, EPA, and DPA.
We’ve applied plant-to-plant biotechnology to deliver the nutrition of microalgae through renewable, sensory neutral canola.
